Bob Hope Patriotic Hall

Temporarily closed until mid 2012 for a $46 million dollar renovation that will include:

  • Updating the mechanical, electrical, heating and cooling and plumbing, fire suppression, and telecommunications systems.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades, including new ADA accessible parking stalls.
  • Update office and meeting/conference room space
  • Refurbishment of gymnasium on the 10th floor
  • Full-service kitchen

patriothall.jpg (9519 bytes)Through the years, the 10-story Bob Hope Patriotic Hall has been a familiar sight to those who have traveled the freeways near downtown Los Angeles. Bob Hall Patriotic Hall stands as a historical icon amidst an ever changing skyline.

This new building was dedicated by the Board of Supervisors in 1925 and opened its doors to the public in 1926. Among the first to use the facilities were the Grand Army of Republic, Veterans of Indian Wars, Spanish American War and World War I.

Patriotic Hall, designed by Allied Architects Association with Romanesque features and fine vaulted arch construction in the lobby has been awarded the certificate of Honor by the Southern California Chapter of the American Society of Architects for its exceptional merit.

On November 12, 2004, the building was rededicated in honor of Bob Hope and renamed Bob Hope Patriotic Hall.

Owned by the County of Los Angeles and managed by the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Bob Hope Patriotic Hall is the home to a treasure of military memorabilia artifacts and documents from the American Revolution through the recent Middle East conflict.
